Goodbye 2009, Hello 2010

When a year comes to a close, most people toss away the dirty dragged out drama, reminisce about the craziest, funniest, and most memorable moments of the past year, renew viable resolutions and make other resolutions that will most likely be forgotten after the first two weeks into the 365 days.

But 2010 is different. It is not just a new year, but also a new decade. It is a time that anyone can start fresh. Whether it is starting up a new sport, starring in your very own band, dare I say working out (some people can actually stick to it!),or helping out the community through volunteer work, there are always goals that you can set for yourself.

For 2010,I am challenging myself to shed some unwanted pounds. Although other new years have been spent wishing I had not ate those extra cookies or had fun that extra mile, this year I want to prove to myself that it is more than just a new year resolution. It is a new decade resolution. Keeping in mind that I do not want to be another victim of the college "freshman fifteen". The dreaded pounds that pack up as students hibernate in their dorms while pulling all nighters to study for their college tests is often said to be a myth by many experts, but I have witnessed the torturous process take place, and it is certainly not a legend. In order to keep myself happy and healthy,I am starting a new regiment every week with a friend,so hopefully as 2011rolls around,I will not be regretting any of my choices,or at least my health choices!

Just as I experienced failed new year resolutions in the past, others tend to let their new years resolutions go as well, which is one of the biggest setbacks of keeping unrealistic goals. Resolutions are made so they can be met,not so that they can be buried under everything else going on in life. No one wants to look back at the end of the year, realize they totally missed their goal, and then just "renew” the resolution to only see the monotonous cycle repeat itself once again.

By meeting resolutions, people not only feel better about themselves, but gain a whole new level of confidence that cannot be described. So take 2010 as the first year you set resolutions with standards that can be met; do not aim too low,but not too high either. A balance is always the best way to go in any situation.

As for what is going to be coming up in the entertainment world, everyone can look forward to many collaborations amongst our favorite artists,a-list actors superimposing the big screens such as Johnny Depp in Alice in Wonderland,Russel Crowe in Robin Hood,Robert Pattinson in Eclipse, and Daniel Radcliffe in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I,and new episodes of the dramatic,oh-so-sticky television primetime shows from Lost to Jersey Shore.

2010 will be filled with a new wave of styles among all aspects of culture: clothing, music, movies, and books,so get ready for the ride because US1Magazine will be there to keep all of our readers and supporters in the loop with all of this year’s important happenings!
